Managing People's Performance

Managing People's Performance is designed to help managers and supervisors master basic performance management skills. This comprehensive workshop teaches participants how to use a seven-step process to increase employee satisfaction and productivity. Topics such as setting performance standards, writing performance goals, establishing clear evaluation criteria, counseling, and coaching are covered. Managing People’s Performance is a two-day workshop.

Setting Performance Expectations

Setting Performance Expectations gives managers a process to gain agreement on performance expectations with their employees in a developmental manner. Managers will learn tips for mutually setting stretch goals which link to the Firm’s business strategies. Setting Performance Expectations is a half-day workshop.

Coaching for Improved Performance

Coaching for Improved Performance provides managers with the skills they need to hold ongoing discussions about employees’ performance throughout the year. Managers will learn to analyze performance gaps, identify the underlying causes, create strategies and hold performance discussions with their employees. Coaching for Improved Performance can be a full-day or a half-day workshop.

Writing and Conducting Effective Performance Appraisals

Writing and Conducting Effective Performance Appraisals gives managers a process to follow when communicating with employees about their performance. Tailored case studies highlight common situations and participants identify action plans to address them. Writing and Conducting Effective Performance Appraisals can be conducted as a 2-hour management overview or a half-day workshop.

On-The-Level: Communicating About Performance

On-The-Level (OTL) provides participants on both sides of any discussion with the skills necessary to keep the discussion focused, objective, and free of emotion and the “gamesmanship” that so often gets in the way. OTL quickly establishes the mutual importance and benefits of effective performance discussions. Participants get specific, written feedback from five other people (selected prior to the workshop by the participant) on communication skills strengths and weaknesses. On-The-Level is a one day workshop.

Building Teamwork

Building Teamwork uses a survival simulation to heighten awareness of the importance and business benefits of teamwork. Participants also learn how to use a group dynamics model to recognize and understand the stages of team development so that they can take action to move their teams toward high performance. Building Teamwork is a half-day workshop.

Facilitation Skills

Facilitation Skills gives participants an opportunity to practice developing and delivering interactive presentations that create interest, involvement and commitment. Participants will learn and practice the skill of “reading” cues from groups and taking action to improve understanding. Fundamental presentation skills such as controlling nervousness, eye contact, physical skills and handling question and answer sessions are also covered. Facilitation Skills is delivered in two half-days.

Editing With Respect

Editing With Respect provides a collaborative, mentoring approach to the editing process. The workshop stresses overcoming writer defensiveness, empowering writer ownership, representing the reader, and making editing a respectful process through active listening and supportive feedback. Editing with Respect is delivered as a oneday session with optional one-on-one coaching after the workshop.
